Columbia County, Georgia, was created by an Act of December 10, 1790 from Richmond County. Named for Christopher Columbus, it also contained parts of McDuffie and Warren Counties. The area was settled by Quakers before the Revolutionary War.
This collection consists of a microfilm copy of marriage bonds, 1787-1935, from the Court of Ordinary in Columbia County, Georgia. The material is arranged alphabetically by groom's surname. The microfilmed document is a typed transcription of the original records.
The material was microfilmed by the Georgia Department of Archives and History in 1968.
