The Woods were a local Savannah family from at least the 1930s to the 1980s. Thomas S. Wood, Jr. and his wife, Margaret Frederick, were the parents of Gilbert and Katherine Wood. Gilbert's wife was Vera Wood. Thomas, Jr. and his brother Frederick Wood were employed at Thomas S Wood and Co., a Savannah-based plastering and stucco contractors, with Thomas' father, Thomas S Wood, Sr.
This collection contains the financial records of Thomas S. Wood and Co. as well as the financial records of the Wood family. Company records are primarily cancelled checks and check stubs from the 1960s to 1970s and ledgers detailing company accounts. Family records are primarily income tax papers, bank and credit card statements and documents related to the management and condition of the estate of Thomas S. Wood. There is also approximately half a box of gardening clippings and brochures, as well as three rolls of architectural plans: two for the Savannah Civic Center and one for the Ardsley Park neighborhood.
