William G. Lee (1857-1940) was born in Norfolk, Virginia. At the age of 18, he stowed away on a ship out of Norfolk. He eventually became a ship captain and later an inspector of hulls and steam vessels in Savannah, Georgia.
This collection contains William G. Lee's inspector's license to inspect steam vessels that travel through the Savannah, Georgia area. This license is dated 2 July 1902.
