Biographical/Historical Note

Ruth Louise Beville was born in Savannah, Georgia and resided in Waynesboro, North Carolina, She was a descendent of General Lachlan McIntosh (1725-1806) of Savannah, Georgia.


Scope and Content Note

This collection contains materials relating to the Belville and McIntosh families of Savannah, Georgia from circa 1840 to 1970 that were collected by Ruth Louise Beville. Included within this collection are the following: daguerreotype of Anna Maria McIntosh, seal of the coat of arms of Clan Chattan, photographs of Gen. Lachlan McIntosh's home, Anna M. F. Belvilles's National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution 1917 certificate, and Ruth Louise Belville's 1925 application for membership into the D.A.R.
