Charles L. Schlatter, a native of Pennsylvania, lived in Glenn County, Georgia prior to and during the early Civil War years. He was in the 1860 Glynn County, Georgia census as fifty years old. He was married to Fanny C. Schlatter and they had three children -- Charles L., Fannie, and Mary.
This collection contains a letter written by Charles L. Schlatter to "My Dear Brother" on March 14, 1861. The letter discusses railroad lines running through South Georgia, North Florida, and Southeastern Alabama. Included is a hand drawn map of different cities with distances between each and showing the railroad connection.
