Biographical/Historical Note

Cornelius Vanderbilt (1794-1877) was an industrialist and philanthropist whose steamship entrepreneurship and railroad enterprises yielded great wealth.

Scope and Content Note

This collection contains two documents. The first document is dated April 1822 and is the record of an account between the Steamship Bellona and Cornelius Vanderbilt between January and April 1822. The second item is a receipt for wages paid to Jacob Dale, 1826.
