Biographical/Historical Note

John Miller, who owned the passport in the collection, was born circa 1787. Sarah E. Miller, subject of the last will and testament in the collection, was a resident of Savannah and died circa 1889.


Scope and Content Note

This collection contains a passport for John Miller dated Aug. 8, 1817; it is written in French and is imprinted with several seals. The second item is the Last Will and Testament of Sarah E. Miller, dated July 25, 1887 and stipulates the execution of her estate by William S. Rockwell. In particular, she provides stock in the Southwestern Railroad Company of Georgia to several relatives and requests that the remains of her parents be exhumed from Colonial Cemetery in Savannah and reinterred in Bonaventure Cemetery, Savannah. Both items are photocopies.
