The Garden Club of Savannah was founded in March of 1927. Its motto is "Savannah’s beauty is our duty," and club members achieve this goal through various projects throughout the city. In 1977, the club celebrated its 50th Anniversary. The mayor of Savannah declared October 13, 1977 Garden Club Day. The club honored Mary Myrick as part of its celebrations.
This scrapbook celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the Garden Club of Savannah and the Garden Club of Georgia and covers the years 1977-1978. The book was put together by scrapbook chairman Janie Sims, and it received a first place award from the Garden Club of Georgia. The scrapbook is indexed. It covers activities of the Garden Club in 1977-1978, including the special activities celebrating the club’s anniversary. It contains photographs, newspaper articles, programs, correspondence, a list of members and officers, and a history of the Garden Club of Savannah.
