Dr. Lauren B. Sickels-Taves is a professor of historic preservation. She received her B.A. in history from the University of Michigan, Ann Harbor in 1976, her M.A. in historic preservation from Columbia University in 1980, and her PhD in architecture from the University of Edinburgh in 1988. Dr. Taves has devoted much of her research to the analysis of building materials, particularly historic masonry.
This collection contains the research notes, completed survey forms, and photographs collected by Dr. Lauren B. Sickels-Taves from 1994 to 1995, while researching buildings made out of tabby throughout coastal Georgia made possible by a grant from the Georgia Humanities Council.
