Jefferson Wilcox Sirmans was born in Willacoochee, Georgia on March 22, 1913. J. W. spent most of his life in Savannah, Georgia and worked as a burner for the Southeastern Ship Yard and Colonial Oil Co. Jefferson was a self-employed bsiness owner from 1946 until his retirement in 1972. He was a member of Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church and Solomon's Lodge. He was married to Mildred G. Sirmans and had one son, Jefferson W. Sirmans, Jr. Jefferson W. Sirmans died on May 10, 2001 and is buried in Bonaventure Cemetery.
Jefferson W. Sirmans, Jr. was born on January 3, 1939 in Savannah, Georgia. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He married Sue Sirmans and had three daughters. He died on June 17, 2009 and is buried in Bonaventure Cemetery.
This collection contains Jefferson W. Sirmans, Sr. of Savannah, Georgia's income tax returns from 1942 to 1945. There is also statement of sale for the eastern fifty five feet of lot 20, Hitch ward, Dittmersville Savannah, Georgia from Jefferson W. Sirmans, Jr. to Cecil E. Summerlin, dated 1945.
