Biographical/Historical Note

William R. Gignilliat was born in 1814 and was a rice planter in Darien, Georgia. He married Helen Mary Hart (1821-1862) on 19 September 1838 and the couple had the following children: Thomas H., Gilbert W., and William R. Gignilliat, Jr. Gignilliat died in 1862 at his summer home in Marietta, Georgia.


Scope and Content Note

This collection contains two daguerreotypes from around the 1850s of William R. Gignilliat and his wife, Helen Mary Hart Gignilliat of Darien, Georgia.
