Biographical/Historical Note

George Fenwick Jones was born in 1916. He edited and authored several books on the Salzburgers and Germans in America, including The Salzburger Saga: Religious Exiles and Other Germans Along the Savannah (published in 1997).

Scope and Content Note

This collection contains photographs and maps used in George Fenwick Jones' publications on the Georgia Salzburgers. Images include Dasher Cemetery sign, General James Oglethorpe, Reverend George Whitfield, Johann Martin Bolzius, James Habersham, Samuel Urlsperger, Salzburger cottages, photographs of early maps of Ebenezer, Georgia, and the Georgia Salzburger Society monument. Images are copy prints of originals held at the British Museum, Det Kongelige Bibliotek, De Renne Collection and the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library at the University of Georgia, the Georgia Historical Society, and other repositories dating from the 1700s to 1900s.
