Thomas Marsh Bryan was born on Wilmington Island in Savannah, Georgia, on 4 January 1809. On 19 November 1834 he married Florida Troup (1813-1847). At age 37, upon the death of his grandfather, he changed his surname from Bryan to Forman to collect inheritance. After the death of his first wife in 1847, he married Helen Brooke on 30 August 1849. According to the 1860 Slave Schedule, Forman owned 15 slaves while living in Savannah. He may have fathered up to seven children and according the verso of the frame, is grandfather to Katharine Brooke Leourad or Leonard (writing not legible). Forman died on 27 September 1875 in Georgia.
This collection contains one photograph of Thomas Marsh Forman (formerly known as Thomas Marsh Bryan). The photograph was taken during the late nineteenth century. On the verso of the frame a wax stamp reads: Walter Kimball and Co., 31 Beacon Street, Boston. The verso of the frame also includes some biographical information.
