Biographical/Historical Note

Rosa Lee Grant was born in Georgia to Fletcher Edgar Grant, a builder, and Rosa Winkler Crumbley Grant on August 31, 1903. She lived in Savannah from about 1899 until 1923 and graduated from Savannah High School in 1923. By 1930, she was working as a stenographer at a telegraph company and living with her parents and grandfather, George E. Grant, in Jacksonville, Florida. Grant had a daughter, Mary Ellen Ackerson who resides in Alexandria, Virginia.

Scope and Content Note

This collection contains photographs of groups of people at Tybee Island, Georgia, and other sites in Savannah, Georgia, including the Telfair Academy of Arts and Sciences and Forsyth Park. Other images depict the ships the S.S. Granite State and the Yamacraw, a Mardi Gras celebration in Mobile, Alabama, and World War I soldiers in uniform including C.W. Coffman, Lieutenant Newsome, and Lieutenant Allen.
