Greene County, Georgia was created from a portion of Washington County by the state legislature in 1786. The county comprises lands originally settled by the Creek Nation. It was named after General Nathanael Greene. The county seat is Greensboro.
This collection consists of a microfilm copy of records from the Greene County, Georgia, Court of Ordinary. Included are Book L, estate records returns and divisions, 1833-1837; a book of marriages, 1817-1829; a book of marriage licenses, 1811-1817; Volume F, an index of wills, 1816-1842; and an Inferior Court plat book, 1786-1861. The plat book also includes a deed of John Buchannan (1805) following p. 2 and the proceedings of the Caveat Court pertaining to a plat of a survey for George W. Finch (1843), p. 280-283. These records are items 2 and 3 on microfilm roll X-1545-04 and items 1, 7, and 8 on microfilm roll X-1545-05; these microfilm rolls contain materials for multiple collections.
These records were microfilmed by the Georgia Department of Archives and History in 1966.
