This is an artificial collection created by the Georgia Historical Society of family Bibles. Most of the Bibles contain family records such as births and marriages. The families represented in the Bibles are the Box family, the Bryan family, the Hargrove family, the Hartstene family, the Heyward-Demler family, the Heyward-Webb family, Samuel Hopkins Round, the Maner family, the Morgan-Waters family, the Scarlett family, the Stanyarne-Battoon family, the Stiles family, the Wilder-Anderson family, the Middleton family, the Harrison family, the Caldwell family, the Floyd family, the Chapman family, and the Mitchell family. The Scarlett family Bible contained some loose papers and a photograph from a Camp of Instruction, Chickamauga, Tennessee, circa 1900.The Maner family Bible contained the following loose papers: military commission of William J. Maner, May 20, 1848; military commission of William J. Maner, November 4, 1848; notary public, Justice of the Peace commission of William J. Maner, February 18, 1876; last will and testament of William J. Maner, June 18, 1863. These items are also included in the collection. In addition, the collection contains two rolls of microfilm. The first roll of microfilm includes many of these Bible records, as well as Bible records for the Atherton-Wright family, the Wright family, the Lemle family, the Warren-Dixon family, and the Warren family. The microfilm was created by the Georgia Historical Society in 1986. The second roll of microfilm contains the Bible records of William and Mary McDonald Middleton of Chatham County, Georgia and Charleston, South Carolina; of Gabriel and Rebecca Griggs Harrison; of John Caldwell, formerly of Ireland, who settled in New York; of H.G. and Hanna Abernathy Mitchell of Fulton County, Georgia; of David and Margaret Shackelford Floyd of Plainville, Georgia, which includes the obituaries of Charles P. Floyd and Scott Graves; and of the Chapman family, including obituaries. The Chapman family Bible records also include minutes of the First Session of the Piedmont Baptist Association in Pickens County, South Carolina, November 15-16, 1878. This second roll of microfilm is labeled X-1542-05 and also contains materials for other collections. It was microfilmed by the Georgia Department of Archives and History in 1966.
