Eight French ministers of finance were in position during the years spanning the records of this collection.
This collection contains reports from ministers of finance detailing the commission charged with distribution of the indemnities of the colony of Santo Domingo.
Following the French Revolution, an 1825 indemnity treaty stipulated that Haiti would pay France to compensate for lost slave and trade property in exchange for diplomatic recognition of its independence.
