William Bowers (1779-1844) was the only son of Job Bowers of Wilkes County (now Elbert County), Georgia. His father, Job, was a soldier in the Revolutionary Army and was killed by Tories while on furlough to visit his family the day before William's birth. William Bowers married Polly Cox (1786-1873) on June 22, 1802; they had 13 children.
This collection consists of a microfilm copy of the family tree of William Bowers and Polly Cox's descendants. The table consists of seven sheets compiled from records furnished by Esther Bowers Verner, relatives, and "Family records of descendants of Frederick Redwine and Barbara Stoner," by Hattie Jordan of Canon, Georgia (1938). The genealogical table was drawn for Mrs. Verner by Stephen Pennington Bond. The first page of the chart contains an alphabetical index.
