Scope and Content Note

This collection consists of a microfilm copy of genealogical materials collected by Ann Couper and Mrs. R.J. Thiesen, the majority of which pertain to the Couper family. The papers of the Couper family of St. Simons Island, Georgia, include correspondence, land grants, deeds, genealogical material, newspapers, and photographs. Included is a list of the class of 1812 from Yae College at the time of their reunion in 1839. Families included in the genealogical section of the Couper family are Laird, Wylly, Armstrong, Bailey, and Baldwin.

The first portion of the microfilm contains genealogical materials on the following families: Armstrong, Archer, Audley, Bailey, Bigod, Baldwin, Couper (Cooper), Crooke, Cunningham, Clay, Cabaniss, Cousins, de Bohun, de Mawbray, de Vere, de Lacie, Harper, Hudson, Hampton, Harris, Hariston, Lupkes, Maxwell, Mason, Norman, Parks (Parke), Perkins, Reynolds, Randolphs, Rowland, Scott, Smith, Stovall, Shield, Traylor (Trouillart), Tannatt, Thiesen, Wells, Wylly, Wingfield, Way, and Wood.
