Biographical/Historical Note

The Georgia Historical Society was founded by Richard D. Arnold, William Bacon Stevens, and Israel K. Tefft, all Savannah residents. It was chartered in 1839 by the Georgia General Assembly. The headquarters of the Georgia Historical Society is located in Savannah.


Scope and Content Note

This is an artificial collection created by the Georgia Historical Society by compiling cased photographs, consisting of daguerreotypes, ambrotypes, and ferrotypes (tintypes) from various sources into a single collection. It is unknown when this collection was created, but most of the materials were processed during the 1980s. This collection of cased photographs consists of portraits of unidentified people.
