Biographical/Historical Note

The schooner Taisita was a cargo vessel stationed out of New York City. Her masters at varying times were John F. Underhill and Thomas Mayo (1832-1889).

Scope and Content Note

This collection consists of the Taisita's logbook from December, 1870 through August, 1872. It contains notes on weather conditions and the everyday activities of the personnel on board the ship. The logbook covers the Taisita's voyage from New York to Martinique, St. Kitts, Marquise, Kingston, Savannah, Barico, and other places in the Caribbean.
