Jacob Davis was a Private in the 1st Georgia Volunteer Regiment, Company C, Republican Blues, with Captain John W. Anderson during the Civil War. He was honorably discharged on May 16, 1862. He produced Samuel Jeffcoat as a substitute under the Conscript act of Confederate States of America.
This collection consists of two 1774 land grants for property in St. George Parish (Burke County), Georgia. The first documents grants 250 acres granted to Robert Morgan. The second grants 150 acres to Elijah Breazeal.
Material was acquired by Jacob Davis, given to his daughter, given to her daughter, given to her brother, Joseph F. Asher. Material was acquired from Joseph F. Asher by GHS.
