Biographical/Historical Note

Nellie Peters Rucker Walter (1915-1999) was born on July 25 in Athens, Georgia, the daughter of Lamar Cobb Rucker (1879-1947) and Nita Black Rucker (1878-1945). She graduated from the University of Georgia in 1936 and spent the next 3 years studying as an exchange student in Germany. While in Europe, she met and married Henry Alexander Walter. She authored Grandmother Nellie's Stories (Longmeadow, Mass.: Pynchon Press, 1979).

Scope and Content Note

This collection consists of a scrapbook kept for Nellie Walter by her parents, containing letters and photographs from her years in Germany at the Institute of Hygiene, Heidelburg University.
