Biographical/Historical Note

Charles Odingsell (1754-1810) was originally from South Carolina. He was a Major in the Revolutionary War, a state legislator from Chatham County, Georgia (1781-1782), and a wealthy planter, owning property in several counties. He and his wife, Savannah Livingston, had two children, Charles Spencer (1811-1812) and Mary Susannah (1808-1817).

Scope and Content Note

This collection consists of two deeds for a tract of land in Effingham County, Georgia. The first deed is form James Belcher and his wife, Ann, to Joseph Bevan for 707 1/2 acres, dated 1804. The second deed is from Bevan to Charles Odingsell for the same land, dated 1806.
