The Telfair Hospital for Women in Savannah, Georgia, formally opened in January 1886, was established under a bequest in the will of Mary Telfair (1791-1875). A training school for nurses was chartered in 1900 and was the first school of its king in Georgia. The first class graduated in 1902 and the school continued operation until 1935.
This collection consists of administrative records and other materials from the Telfair Hospital Alumnae Association. It contains letters, yearbooks, photographs, and other printed materials relating to Telfair Hospital and the nursing school operated there from 1900-1935. Included in the materials is a card file containing the names of all the individuals who joined the alumnae association after graduation.
