Biographical/Historical Note

Edwin F. Bryan (1846-1894) was born in South Carolina. He served as Superintendent of the Cotton Exchange, as well as cashier for a cotton factor and a timber and lumber company.

The Savannah Benevolent Association was formed in 1854 to assist the sick, their dependents and the poor during epidemics.

Scope and Content Note

This collection contains a certificate of thanks awarded to Edwin F. Bryan (1846-1894) by the Savannah Benevolent Association, Savannah, Georgia. The award was given January 11, 1877 in recognition of the work Bryan did during the yellow fever epidemic of 1876.
