George Augustus was born in Hanover, Germany on November 10, 1683, the only son of the elector of Hanover. In 1705 he married Princess Caroline of Brandenburg-Ansbach, and they had nine children. During his reign as King of England, George II granted the charter to James Edward Oglethorpe, allowing for the founding of the colony of Georgia in 1733. George II died on 25 October 1760.
This collection contains a letter form George II (signed George R.) to his unnamed brother in Hernenhausen, Germany. The brief letter discusses matters of court. Included with the letter is a typed transcript.
