Biographical/Historical Note

The Irwin Invincibles was a voluntary independent company of infantry organized by men from Henry County, Alabama. They enlisted in the Confederate States of America Army in Franklin on August 8, 1861 and became Companies E and K of the 25th Georgia Infantry Regiment; they became known as the Henry Light Infantry. In May, 1862, the men in original Irwin Invincibles were assigned to various regiments, and Companies E and K of the 25th ceased to exist.

Scope and Content Note

This collection consists of a photocopy of a list of the members of the Irwin Invincibles, giving their names at their 1861 enlistment into the Civil War. Notes of what happened to the company, 161-1864 have been added to the list. It was created by John Irwin, a descendant of the Irwin for whom the company was named.
