Biographical/Historical Note

Jonathan Handy (1790-1856) was a ship carpenter from Rochester and Marion, Massachusetts. His son, Ethan (1819-1939) was lost at sea.


Scope and Content Note

This collection consists of a photocopy of an account book from Jonathan Handy's shipbuilding business. The account book, 1837-1856, was kept in Savannah, Georgia, and contains accounts of timber cutting on the Georgia coast for his shipbuilding enterprise.
