The Army of Northern Virginia was the primary military force of the Confederate States of America's Eastern Theater. Organized on June 20, 1861, as the Army of the Potomac, it soon incorporated the armies of the Shenandoah, Harpers Ferry, and the Northwest. The army's name changed to Army of Northern Virginia on March 14, 1862. It surrendered to the Northern Army of the Potomac at Appomattox Court House on April 9, 1865.
This collection consists of a paroled prisoner's pass, issued by the Army of Northern Virginia, Appomattox Court House, on April 10, 1865. The form served as a pass for paroled prisoners by the army. This form was not filled in.
