This collection consists of Peter Williams' passport. The 1817 document, issued in Havana, Cuba is written in Spanish; one page of translation is included in the collection. In it, José Maria Cienfuegos y Jovellanos (1763-1825), Captain-General and Commander-in-Chief of Cuba, allowed Williams, a United States' citizen, to remain in Cuba for an indefinite period of time.
