Mary Frances Lawson (1835-1915), called "Fannie," was the daughter of Edmund Reid (1802-1883). She married Thomas G. Lawson. Her brother, John Reid (1839-1924) enlisted in the Confederate army in 1861; he was commissioned in Company B of the 3rd Georgia Regiment and rose to the rank of captain. The Reid family lived in Eatonton, Georgia.
This collection consists of an 1863 letter from Fannie Lawson to her brother, Captain John S. Reid. In the letter, she writes that she hopes the army will discharge her brother soon.
