Biographical/Historical Note

Gwinnett County was established on December 15, 1818, from lands ceded by Cherokee and Creek Indians. It was named for Button Gwinnett, one of Georgia's signers of the Declaration of Independence. Lawrenceville, the county seat, was incorporated on December 15, 1821.

This collection consists of deeds for land in Gwinnett County, Georgia. Sellers and purchasers include: Joel Britt, Henry Britt, Liney Shivey, Vinny Cooper, Sally Cooper, David Hitchcock, Mathew Cooper, Appaloney Shivey, James Hisam, William Rise, and Alfred Baggett.
