|Title:||Claudia Blanche letter|
|Extent:||0.05 cubic feet (1 folder)|
Claudia was the daughter of Susan M.H. Blanche. All information about her comes from the letter; her surname may have different from that of her mother. She may have stayed at the Hermitage Plantation with the McAlpin family, though in what capacity remains unclear.
This collection consists of a letter from Claudia to her mother, Susan M.H. Blanche, 1827. Writing from "Hermitage," Claudia addresses her mother's illness and hopes she will be well enough to travel home soon. Claudia writes of other family and friends, including a number who are currently ill. She mentions the "Doctor" a number of times, and may have been a nurse. The letter was purportedly carried by hand and addressed "Savannah, Georgia."
