Anne Green was an author who lived in Paris, France most of her life. She was born on November 11, 1899 to Edward Moon Green and Mary Hartridge Green in Savannah, Georgia. Her family moved to France shortly after her birth. Anne is the granddaughter of Charles Green, a well-known cotton merchant who was the first owner of the Green-Meldrim house in Savannah, Georgia. She died in 1979.
These five letters from Anne Green to Mrs. Daniel Denny concern the construction of her grandfather's house, the Green-Meldrim house in Savannah, Georgia, which was finished in 1853 and is now the parish house of St. John's Church. The letters were written from Paris, France between December 11, 1971 and June 20, 1975. Three of the letters are photocopies. All of the letters provide information about the workmen who built the house, the architect of the house, and restoration work on the house.
The original recipient of these letters donated them to the Georgia Historical Society.
