Susannah Bolton Moore was a shopkeeper in Savannah, Georgia in the 1790s and early 1800s. She was born in 1748 and died in 1810. She was the daughter of Robert and Susannah Mauve Bolton and the widow of William Moore.
This collection contains bills and receipts related mainly to Susannah Bolton Moore's business as a shopkeeper in Savannah, Georgia. There are receipts for a wide variety of goods and services. The first folder contains two receipt books, 1774-1778, 1785-1800, and four loose receipts, 1789-1791. The second folder includes bills and receipts from R. & J. Bolton from October 1788 to May 1802. Some receipts in the collection are for business, while others are personal, including one receipt for pew rent in the Baptist Church of Savannah. Other receipts are for clothing, groceries, a dutch oven, tools and many other varied items. Several of the earliest receipts involve payments made in shillings and pounds rather than dollars.
