Lorenzo Dow Todd (1843-1916) was born in Columbus County, North Carolina, the son of Edward Hickman and Nancy Cox Todd. He died in Bryan County, Georgia, and was buried in Savannah. He served in the Confederate States Army with Company D., 10th North Carolina Regiment (later the 20th Regiment), 1861-1865.
This collection consists of materials mainly pertaining to Lorenzo Todd's Civil War service and his membership in the United Confederate Veterans. Included are a list of members of his company during the war, undated and a certificate from the United Daughters of the Confederacy stating that Todd received the Southern cross of the Legion of Honor, 1909 (the cross has been separated from the collection and cataloged with the Artifacts collection). In addition, the collection includes Todd's commission as a member of the Board of Education in Bryan County, Georgia, 1885.
