Peter Taarling was a member of the Georgia Provincial Congress and was appointed Deputy Quartermaster General of the Georgia Militia with the rank of Colonel in 1777. He died before 1799, as various marriage records list the remarriage of his widow in that year. His surname sometimes appears as "Tarling" or "Tarlan."
This collection contains two resolutions of Georgia In Convention, the first regarding pay for men who enlist after November 28, 1776, the second regarding the election of field officers for the 1st Battalion, December 21, 1776. These are marked "A true copy from the Minutes, Edward Langworthy, Secy."
