Samuel F. Smith was born in South Carolina. He married Ann Lindsey on January 9, 1842. He was a Representative from Butts County, Georgia, in the Georgia legislature, 1877-1879.
This collection consists of the papers of Samuel F. Smith, including correspondence, notes on unusual weather and on the comet of October 1882, receipts, bills, a commission to Samuel Smith as Justice of the Peace for the 609th Militia District of Butts County for 1862, the deposition of Martha Wilburn, a cotton seed account, a return of the primary election at Dublin District in November of 1880, and other legal documents.
