Biographical/Historical Note

Balthasar Shaffer (ca. 1741-1811) was born in Germany and came to Georgia in 1770. He served in the Revolutionary War. He was a member of the Chatham Artillery and the Grand Lodge of Georgia.

Scope and Content Note

This collection consists of a deed from Lewis and Mary Giroud to Balthasar Shaffer for Lot No. 9, Wilmington Tything, Derby Ward, Savannah, Georgia, 1774.
