Biographical/Historical Note

The Savannah Kindergarten Club was organized in November, 1904, by graduates of the Kate Baldwin Free Kindergarten. The object of the club was the study of education, especially the education of younger children, as well as the furthering of education generally.

Scope and Content Note

This collection consists of the records of the Savannah Kindergarten Club, 1904-1940. Included are the minute book of the society, 1904-1916, containing programs, a president's report, clippings, and treasurer's reports; a treasurers' book, 1913-1940; the club's constitution and by-laws, containing a list of members, 1916; programs, 1904-1929, as well as a list of books for children exhibited by the club in 1910; and clippings and photographs. Also included are correspondence, 1912-1928, a request for donations to the Student Aid Work of the Georgia Federation of Women's Clubs, 1917, and a typed copy of a trust deed for the Kate Baldwin Free Kindergarten and the Citizens and Southern Bank, 1927.
