Thomas Rasberry (circa 1705-1762) came to Georgia ca. 1751. He was a merchant, a member of the Commons House of Assembly (1758-1762), and a member of several commissions for Savannah and Christ Church Parish. He was also a large land owner. Rasberry married a woman named Ann, who remarried to John Milledge I after Rasberry's death. Together they had two daughters, Anne and Esther.
This collection contains Thomas Rasberry's letter book. It mostly concerns orders to English suppliers for goods for his store in Savannah and describes the economics of the period. It also includes comments on colonial Savannah and its inhabitants. Also in the collection are photocopies of a document grating guardianship of Esther to her mother, Ann Rasberry, after Thomas Rasberry's death, inventories of Thomas Rasberry's estate, and an Inventory of Appraisement of the Goods and Chattels belonging to the late Thomas Rasberry.
Originals of the photocopied documents located in the Department of Archives & History.
