Biographical/Historical Note

Elijah Ragsdale (1778-1858) was born in Virginia. He married Mary Kennedy in approximately 1799 in South Carolina. Ragsdale served in the War of 1812. By 1840 he had moved his family to Cobb County, Georgia.


Scope and Content Note

This collection consists of a land grant to Elijah Ragsdale of Newton County, Georgia, for a tract of 23 7/10 acres in the 15th District, 1st Section of Cherokee County, dated 1843. Included are a plat and pendant seal.
