Biographical/Historical Note

William C. O'Driscoll (1808-1878) was born in Charleston, South Carolina. He practiced law for several years but gave up his practice to become a business man. He moved to Savannah in 1838 and established a successful business as a cotton and commission merchant. He operated his company, called W.C. O'Driscoll, until his death. For a few years, the company was titled O'Driscoll & Gabez. O'Driscoll was a Director and President of the Bank of Savannah and was, at one time, the Belgian Consul at Savannah. In 1875, he became a member of the Savannah Cotton Exchange.

This collection consists of the business records of William C. O'Driscoll's company, W.C. O'Driscoll. It includes letter books, account books, and cash books, 1845-1878. The letter books and account books include both domestic and foreign records.
