Jacob Manses was born in Germany, circa 1811. He moved to Savannah and operated a liquor store.
This collection consists of a bond between Jacob Manses, Daniel T. Scranton and George Hookman and the Mayor and Aldermen of Savannah, for a $200 license to operate a liquor store in Savannah, dated 1850. The store was located on the corner of Price and South Broad Streets (Oglethorpe Ave.).
