Robert de Treville Lawrence (1841-1933) was born in Beaufort District, South Carolina, the son of Samuel and Amanda Malvina Bolan Lawrence. When he was 7 years old his father, a lawyer, moved to Marietta, Ga., to practice there. The family remained in the city. Lawrence served in Company B of the South Carolina 25th Infantry Regiment during the Civil War.
This collection consists of a photocopy of a typed copy of the memoir of Robert de Treville Lawrence, written in 1920 and revised in 1925. It tells of Lawrence's early life, education, marriage and family, experiences in the Civil War, and his career as a developer and builder of railroads.
