The Independent Order of Odd Fellows was established in 1843. The I.O.O.F. derives from the English Oddfellows, founded in the 17th-century. A community service organization, the I.O.O.F's existence in Savannah was first documented in 1867. For several years, the Grand Lodge of Georgia had its headquarters in Savannah.
This collection consists of the letter books of Henry McAlpin, Grand Master of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, 1902-1903. Several letters to the Grand Master are laid in.
