Biographical/Historical Note

The Guerard family of South Carolina and Georgia descend from Jacques Guerard who, with Rene Petit, brought a colony of French Protestants to Charles Town (now Charleston), South Carolina in 1679.


Scope and Content Note

This collection consists of papers relating to the sale and leases of property in Savannah and Chatham County by members of the Guerard family. Included are bills of sale for slaves, accounts, wills and Guerard genealogies, as well as one letter. The papers are arranged chronologically.
