The Georgia Militia organized as a result of the Colonial Acts of 1755 and 1773. Each male in the state between the ages of 16 and 60 was required to register within his militia district.
This collection contains a muster roll dated February 25, 1794 for a detachment of militia troop of dragoons. They were from the Greene County, Georgia Militia under the command of Captain Jonas Fauche (1753-1835). The muster roll includes the names of the officers and men, duties, entry date, horses, arms, and accouterments.
