Prior to 1877, the state treasurer was chosen by the Georgia General Assembly. The Constitution of 1877 amended that state treasurer would be elected by a vote of the people to serve a term of two years.
This collection contains a statement of public accounts from the state treasurer, dated January 1, 1787, and a summary abstract of all monies paid of out of the Treasury from February 22, 1796 to January 10, 1797.
